What Would Jesus Buy?
Posted by Brian Fox Dougherty in Analysis, Culture, Fiction, Humor, Movies, VideoI just saw this movie at the South by Southwest film festival, replete with a full gospel choir, and at the time of this writing it’s not even listed on Rotten Tomatoes. It would surprise me if any producer picks this gem up, given its anti-capitalist stance…
Despite that virtue it received multiple standing ovations, and deservedly so. This is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time… The same crew behind Supersize Me was responsible, and the Spurlockster himself made an appearance. The spirit and message are the same this time around.
Add this sucker to your Netflix wish list: it’s what The Jesus would do.

Dear Soul-stirred Children,
The green eye behind me in the picture there, I feel it now 4 years later on the back of my head. It sends the Green Man’s thoughts out of my preaching third eye in a fine spray of holy spit… You can see I’m working hard to preach up to The Man’s standards…
Some of us are still in Austin, feeling grateful, moping around, slowly moving through the thrift shops of heaven. Living in a deep purple morgue converted to Burner use, a block from the rotunda, where “the man” seems to be Davy Crocket, an imposing oil painting of him before he became John Wayne, looking like a drag queen in white fringe leather get up, a forlorn expression on his face, posing with the dark forest of early Texas.
See you on the playa…

Changelujah! Thanks for a wonderful movie and message.
It’s about time we applied old time religion to a new sustainable lifestyle.
